Black Swan White Swan Fashion and Wedding Gowns of Eva Chen Couture

The Black Swan White Swan 2011 Collection of Vancouver-based designer Eva Chen Couture can be easily summed up in two words – elegant and glamorous. Eva’s high-society fashion brings a touch of old Hollywood yet feels right at home in a contemporary North American setting. Her Black Swan White Swan collection features tight corset tops and tulle bottom with feather accent which works very well as evening dresses and wedding gowns. In particular, the dark tone of the Black Swan styling might just be perfect for the adventurous young lady who craves a little edginess that could transform herself into someone even more desirable and irresistible.

This fashion runway show of Eva Chen’s Black Swan White Swan Collection was first presented at the Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week on November 05, 2010 at the Empire Landmark Hotel.

Boutiques & Designers Spring/Summer Collection 2011 at Vancouver Fashion Week 2010

Clice Lissa and Bellissima, two of Vancouver area’s fashion boutiques put their best foot forward (literally by their models) at the Vancouver Fashion Week 2010 Spring/Summer Collection 2011. Some models are wearing coats that are right for the cold weather right now. The weather forecast calls for sunny skies but snow later in the week.

Temperatures could drop as low as -9 degree C. Winter arrives early in Vancouver this
season it seems.

Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Spectacular Closing Runway Show by Simin Haute Couture Nov. 07, 2010

It is a spectacular finish on the last night of the Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011 Collection on Sunday Nov 07, 2010 at the Empire Landmark Hotel. Earlier in the evening, an international cast of high-dressmaking designers from the UK (James Steward Couture, Lisa Jayne Dann & Carolyn Massey), Japan (Chiyuki Sugimoto), Norway (Ivilde David-Andersen) and LA (Andrea Spratt & Gordana) showcased their creations. Exquisite as their designs were, it was Simin Haute Couture of California that capped the night with an elegant parade of high-sewn dresses with two or even three models walking down the runway in grand style all at the same time.

Mayor Gregor Robertson Declared Canucks Day as Vancouver Hockey Team Celebrated 40 Years

On Monday, October 4, 2010 a special 40th anniversary Canucks flag was raised at City Hall as Mayor Gregor Roberson proclaimed the date as Canucks Day. Mayor Robertson and Council, Canucks Sports & Entertainment owner Francesco Aquilini, President and General Manager Mike Gillis, Chief Operating Officer Victor de Bonis, Canucks mascot Fin and former Canucks Trevor Linden and Stan Smyl were all present to mark this special occasion.

Later, Mayor Robertson answered questions from the media and gave an update on the Dunsmuir bike lane and other planned downtown dedicated cyclist routes. I asked when a decision will be made to decide whether the Dunsmuir bike lane would be made permanent. Mr. Robertson said, “It will be sometime next year when the trial has enough months and several seasons to work through. Every season is a little different for bike traffic and for business, so the staff is waiting for data through the year.”

Pride Parade 2010 – Is Vancouver GAY AND THE CITY or Is It San Francisco?

There is Sex and the City, the movie that’s closely associated with New York The Big Apple. And then there is Gay and the City which I think belongs to either Vancouver or San Francisco. With a huge turnout for this event that celebrated homosexuality and anti-discrimination, this Canadian city has as much right to claim the title ’Gay and the City’ as any other cities in the world, San Francisco, New York, London, Paris notwithstanding. Thousand of people lined up the sidewalks of Vancouver to meet and greet the transvestites, dykes, queers or any such individuals by any other name. Forget the language they are all meant in the nicest way anyway. Among all other major international cities, the Vancouver Event is certainly among the most popular per capital.

Will Vancouver be GAY AND THE CITY? What do you think?

Happy pride, Vancouver!

Celebration of Light 2010, Quebec-China Fireworks Exploded Over English Bay

On July 31, 2010, A Quebec team paid tribute to China and lit up the night sky with an explosive firework display for all Vancouver to see. That also concluded Celebration of Light 2010. Now that all four contenders have performed, is it Team USA, Team Spain, Team Mexico or Team (Quebec-China) to win it? All the pyrotechnics experts did their job really well this year. Whoever holds the title is for the judges to decide. One thing’s for sure, the real winners is the Vancouver audience and the many visitors who came for this event. Thanks of course to this year’s four major sponsors: The Keg, London Drugs, HSBC and Concord Pacific. Let’s just hope that this immensely popular Celebration of Light fireworks competition continues to attract corporate sponsors and return stronger as ever next year.

Celebration of Light 2010 Mexican Mariachi Firework Lit Up Vancouver’s English Bay

This is Part 1 of the Mexico Night fireworks. Part 2 Mexico Night fireworks is here. Can the Mexican fireworks best the efforts by Team USA and Team Spain? Of course there is still China, the crowd’s favorite, sitting on the sideline eager to steal the prize at the Celebration of Light fireworks competition this Saturday (July31).

I felt that the Mexican fireworks had subtleties and character, yet there are some quiet moments that maybe a bit too long that created a lure. The finale and highlights of the night are crowd-pleasing and second to none for sure. You be the judge to see if the Mexican pyrotechnic lightshow display at Vancouver’s English Bay can beat the Americans, and Spaniard and topple the Chinese later.
