The Fab Fourever Beatles Maniac Cover Songs at Canada Fest 2012 Celebrated Queen’s Diamond Jubilee & London 2012

Canadian Beatles cover band FAB FOUREVER helped celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Canada Fest 2012 and London 2012 Olympics at Canada Place in Vancouver, BC on Aug 04, 2012.

At the entrance to the West Promenade and the North Point, the Fab Fourever performed I Saw Her Standing There, All My Loving, Ticket to Ride, A Hard Day’s Night, Roll Over Beethoven and many more and created an instant Beatles Maniac among the Fab Four fans that gathered.

They not only sounded like the Beatles in order to pay tribute to the British rock group, band members Jody Tennant, Kevin Davey, Jean-Luc Perron and Paul Kaszonyi even did and dressed their best to look like Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr respectively to give the audience a ‘complete Beatles experience’.

Incredible Contortion Act by Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe 南京市杂技团 at Surrey Fusion Festival 2012

The Nanjing Acrobat Troupe 南京市杂技团 from China came to perform at the Surrey Fusion Festival 2012 on July 21, 2012. The lady contortionist and her bodily deformity defy human body structure and give new meaning to being flexible. She appeared as part of a presentation together with the Wuxi Chinese Cultural Troupe无锡中国文化团 from Jiangsu江苏省.

The well-known Chinese cultural song and dance musical group has travelled and performed around the world. They recently toured Canada in July 2012 to present ‘Beautiful South China’ to audiences in Ottawa, Moncton, Halifax, Montreal and Calgary. Their appearance with the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe in Surrey, BC seemed like an unscheduled visit.

Walk Off The Earth Sang ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ With ‘Summer Vibe’, ‘Magic’ & ‘Corner of Queen’ at Surrey Fusion Festival 2012

Canadian indie rock band Walk Off The Earth played their famous Gotye’s cover song ‘Somebody That I Used To Know” with five band members playing on the same guitar. They also belted out an original number ‘Summer Vibe’ to a very appreciative audience at Holland Park Concord Pacific World Music Stage during the Surrey Fusion Festival 2012 on July 21, 2012.

The band came from Burlington, Ontario. Band members include Gianni Luminati, Sarah Nicole Blackwood, Ryan Marshall, Mike Taylor and Joel Cassady. Besides the guitar, piano, drums and other instruments, the band also plays other unconventional musical tools including the Ukulele and the Theremin, as well as looping samples.

They became a Youtube sensation when their covered versions such as ‘Backin’ Up’ from The Gregory Brothers, Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’, The Beatles ‘From Me To You’ and others hit the Internet, gaining them millions upon millions of views.

the Surrey Fusion Festival 2012 (July 21-22, 2012 at Holland Park) has a multicultural flavor that celebrates the city’s diverse communities i.e. South Asian, Indian, Punjabi, Asian, Chinese, The Philippines, South East Asian, Latino, South American and European.

This year’s headliners include Los Lobos, Wuxi Chinese Cultural Troupe, Celebration Dance Team, Walk Off The Earth, Indianation, Nanjing Acrobat Group, Delphi 2 Dublin, Polonez, Briga, Good For Grapes and many other groups. There will also a Parade of Flags which has become one of the highlights of the family-friendly festival.

Edgar Muenala Pan Flute & Accordion Cumbia Gringa with Eric D’onofrio – A Window To The World 世界之窗 Concert

Edgar Muenala performed Cumbia Gringa with accordionist Eric D’onofrio at A Window To The World 世界之窗 concert in Vancouver’s Granville Island Stage on June 24, 2012. As usual, Muenala played the pan flute and did a little singing for this South America musical number as well.

Edgar Muenala was born in Ecuador and had been living in Vancouver Canada and traveling the world to perform for more than 20 years. He was inspired by his native South American music and Asian culture and wanted to create a fusion of sounds that brought together different traditional instruments and a diversity of rhythms and electronic digital effects to form his own contemporary style.

CelticFest 2012 – Gothard Sisters at The Village in Vancouver [Scarborough Fair]

Appearing as part of a preview of the CelticFest 2012 on March 10, 2012, The Gothard Sisters from Seattle, WA performed a number of tunes including Scotland The Brave, Scarborough Fair (an old British folk song turned Simon and Garfunkel classic) and others at The Village in Vancouver’s Southeast Falsecreek, site of the former Olympic athletes residents of 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Other bands also making an appearance included Lorne Warr & The Streels, Good For Grapes, Jocelyn Pettit Band. Many of them will also perform later in the main events of the Celtic festival in Vancouver from Mar 14-18, 2012. The week long celebration festivities end with a St. Patrick’s Day parade in downtown Vancouver on Sunday.

Behind Sapphire Emotional Vancouver Homecoming Concert, Oh My What A Fine Day and Black Ties

Behind Sapphire had a passionate Vancouver Homecoming Concert on Dec 17, 2011 after a cross-Canada tour that included stops in Toronto, Edmonton, Halifax and many other Canadian cities. As an opener in the Vancouver concert lead singer Grant Cassell backed up by band members Matthew Mazankowski (guitar), Steven Ward (drums), Lindsay Sjoberg (guitar), Brayden Pichor (bass) and new member Joseph Ward, performed their classic songs such as Oh My What A Fine Day and Black Ties. This is a rare glimpse of a local Sichuan group performing folk dance and music of the area in Neijiang, China. 内江四川中国歌唱和民族舞蹈表演. It took place during the 2011 World Music Fashion Festival (WMFF 201) in Neijiang, Sichuan, China on Sep 23, 2011. Neijiang is about half-way between Chengdu and Chongqing.

Canadian Band Behind Sapphire Performed Experiemental Pop Music on Hangzhou Fashion Week 杭州时装节 Runway in China

Behind Sapphire, one of the musical acts of the 2011 World Music Fashion Festival (WMFF), performed twice in Hangzhou, China. First, on the Hangzhou Fashion Week runway on Sep 24, 2011, then two nights later at the Closing Ceremony. WMFF brought together an international team of fashion designers including Paul Hardy, Juma, Fala Chien, Arido Jewelry, Evan Biddell & Kyuin Chae from the U.S., Canada and France for a month-long tour in China that started in Shanghai and concluded in Hangzhou on Sep 26, 2011. Other stops included Dalian, Chengdu and Neijiang.

Top Canadian fashion designer Evan Biddell was in Hangzhou to take part in the fashion week 杭州时装节 天堂丝绸武林衣秀 and put on a catwalk runway show that gained him plenty of fashion admirers in China. Biddell was a participant of the 2011 World Music Fashion Festival (WMFF) organized by Empress Media of Vancouver. WMFF brought together an international team of fashion designers including Paul Hardy, Juma, Fala Chien, Arido Jewelry & Kyuin Chae from the U.S., Canada and France. Musical groups Isis Salam and DJ Fathom and Behind Sapphire were also invited to perform in five Chinese cities during the month-long tour that concluded in Hangzhou on Sep 26, 2011.

Juma Fashion & Fei Fei Moonwalk in Neijiang, China – 2011 World Music Fashion Fest (WMFF)

In Neijiang, Sichuan, U.S. fashion designer Juma put on a special presentation of its clothing line and made good use of the talent of a local aspiring model-dancer named Fei Fei who did a Michael Jackson Moonwalk number on stage as if to emphasize the youthful appeal of the New York-based fashion line.

The evening’s performance was part of the 2011 World Music Fashion Festival (WMFF) tour organized by Empress Media of Vancouver. WMFF brought together an international team of fashion designers including Paul Hardy, Juma, Fala Chien, Arido Jewelry, Evan Biddell & Kyuin Chae from the U.S., Canada and France.
