Pride Parade 2011 Vancouver Gay & Lesbian Street Party GAY AND THE NAKED CITY Along Robson & Denman
After a week long celebration of the Vancouver Pride Week 2011 of the Gay, Lesbian, LGBT & LGBTTQ lifestyles, the people of Vancouver capped it all off with a Pride Parade 2011 along Robson and Denman street. At Vancouver21.com, we proudly dubbed the festivities as GAY AND THE CITY which started on July 25th with a Vancouver City Hall official kickoff of events that included the raising of the Rainbow Flag and a proclamation by Mayor Gregor Robertson together with Vancouver’s very own gay personality Joan-E, former MP Bill Siksay and other lesbian and gay activists such as Ken Coolen, Ron Dutton and L.A. gay pioneer Pat Rocco who launched the world’s very first gay parade in the early 1970s. At the same time, the city also launched the 2nd annual North America Out Games being held concurrently with the Vancouver Pride Week. On July 31, 2011, the Vancouver Pride Parade took place in the downtown and West End areas. Hundreds of thousands of spectators and participants heeded the call to join the street party.
